Dr Baerin Houghton obtained his medical degree with first class honours from The University of New South Wales in 2000 and completed his Respiratory and Sleep Medicine training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. As a dedicated physician, Dr Houghton is passionate about improving outcomes in lung cancer and completed specialist training in Oncology at the Sydney Cancer Centre.
Dr Houghton obtained a Masters of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology from The University of Sydney in 2010 and joined the National Health and Medical Research Centre to work on cancer clinical trials with the Australasian Lung Cancer Trials Group. Dr Houghton is the principal investigator of several lung cancer trials currently recruiting at the Mid North Coast Cancer Institute.
In addition to his work as a doctor, Dr Houghton is a Senior Lecturer at UNSW Medical School. He has appointments at Port Macquarie Base Hospital, Port Macquarie Private Hospital, and the Mid North Coast Cancer Institute.
